Digital Editions at W&L is an effort of Leyburn Library, Digital Humanities, and the Digital Culture and Information minor to publish edited and annotated texts from our Special Collections and Archives and the collections of our community partners.
Texts on this site include both transcriptions with minimal editorial intervention as well as editions that have been encoded with TEI XML. Editors include students and library faculty at Washington and Lee University. Students receive training in transcription and editing through their university employment or enrollment in courses like DCI 295D Digital Editions.
This site is built with the static site generator Jekyll, with a customized Bootstrap derived theme. When relevant, the site uses CETEICean, a JavaScript library for display TEI documents in a browser. Currently, the site is published on GitHub Pages. When available, page images are displayed via IIIF.
Technical development by Mackenzie Brooks, Professor & Digital Humanities Librarian.
